John Harris would like to include grant information at every school board meeting from now on.
Grants:
Pathway from the high school to the track will begin construction sometime in the middle or late summer.
Impact Aid Grant to replace the shop is in the final stages of discussion. Eureka has a good chance to receive it.
Quality schools grant, to replace the heater in the Jr. High. They are evaluating the grants right now.
Resignations:
Bev Cass aid resigned and Becky Vredenberg and Thea Borden resigned from Special Olympics. Toni Henneman English teacher resigned. Board approved
Patty Kincheloe and Sandy Ryberg asked for retirement incentive after the deadline. Board approved.
Board Workshop in the month of June Mr. Mephem would like to see all board members there.
School Board election for two candidates Election May 4th.
April 17 Interbel Voting delegate appoint someone to be there for the school.
They are changing curriculum for the Alternative School. Courses are designed by MT teachers and will be on line classes. Every class is offered to graduate HS students. Eureka Staff will sign up to teach classes. It is in the beginning phases. Need to have 25 people in each section.
Class sizes are changing. Four smallest classes are Kindergarten through the second grade. Will there be 2 teachers or 3? Mr. Mephem wanted the school board to give guide lines to help make the decision. They need to look at accreditation standards.
Elementary School:
Kindergarten Round UP had 32 students
JR. High:
Fund raiser Hats On for the Thompson family.
High School:
April 23rd Host kick off Dinner for Rendezvous dinner again this year.
Interviewing for half time art teacher.
April 28 planning a self improvement night for community from 5:30-8:30 purpose to develop a mission statement for the high school.

Privacy law update:
Closing board meetings to protect student’s privacy when necessary.
Sewer Issue:
There is a septic tank sitting under football field. The school needs to hook up the city. Mr. Mephem would like to negotiate something with the city that works for all.
Health Insurance 11.9% increase Dental increase 15%. Janny Goff and Annette Longgood proposed a health insurance incentive that will help the district cut insurance costs. $600 incentive for people who have $500 deductable plan. For married teachers school is paying for them. They hope that this will help with a trade off. Hope people will open up a HSA plan health savings account. Mr. Mephem recommended to accept to offer an incentive of $600 to people who have a $500 or $1500 go to a $2400 deductable.
Rehire:
Mr. Mephem recommended to rehire all High school, Jr. High and Elementary teachers for next year. All names were read and voted on. All were accepted.
