MEA General Members’ Meeting May 31, 2012
Attendance: Kelley Comstock, Aaron Fortner, Ann Newell, Kevin Ruble, Darcy Shafer, Sue Flanary, Corina Henrie, Sue Mepham, Jen VanNess, Chad Dunn, Lori Coffman, Shelly Moen, Heather Dunn, Rob Reynolds, Angela Price
Officers
Current officers have all been in office for 3 years or more. Shelly Moen has been Secretary/Treasurer for many years. It would be great if other people took a turn to be an officer. You are welcome to shadow current officers and learn the job before you take over. Think about this. Officer elections will occur at the September meeting. Current officers are:
President: Rob Reynolds
Vice President: Heather Dunn
Treasurer: Shelly Moen
Secretary: Angela Price
Negotiations Update
Stipend will be paid to negotiators once their face to face hours are submitted to Shelly Moen.
92% approval of offer from administration.
Working on language and adding Memorandums of Understanding from the last couple of years to the contract.
Next year negotiations for contract language will still be open.
Local Dues
Majority of MEA members approved to increase the yearly local dues for members to $30.
We Want You
Happy about what TVEA negotiators did for our contract this year? Part of TVEA/MEA dues go to pay for improving your contract and getting you a raise. This 4.5% raise is the highest we’ve had in Eureka in recent history. One way you can show your appreciation is to join TVEA/MEA. New members are welcome anytime . Please see Angela Price for a membership form. The more members we have, the stronger our voice.
If for some reason you would like to get out of MEA please submit your request in writing to Rob Reynolds during the termination period of Aug. 1-Sept 30.
