September 17, 2010 TVEA Minutes

Announcements continue to be on Negotiations Central Website. Any problems with access let Rob know?
Highway Cleanup-3 mi stretch starting at Lindsay Road. Sign posted at Lindsay Road saying TVEA. Dave will see about getting another sign for the location by the Lutheran Church. October date to clean up and BBQ following at Legion Field. STAFF HIGHWAY CLEANUP WILL BE OCTOBER 16 FROM 9-12. BBQ following at Legion Field provided by TVEA.
Staff T-Shirts-MEA and administration will buy shirts for school staff. Heather is the t-shirt
lady. If you have input talk to Heather Dunn. Each building would have an identifying logo or Eureka Public Schools/ Team Eureka. If you want more than one shirt you are welcome to order an extra if you pay ahead. See Negotiations site for upcoming information.
Building Stewards-Go to person for contact for Union Questions. Who is interested in doing this?
Shelly Clark volunteered building steward for high school.
Carrie Holder volunteered building steward for middle school.Elementary person?
Still seeking Elementary building steward.
Grievance Committee-need replacement members.
Flower Person-Thanks Paula for all your years of volunteer service. Amanda Anderson will be the new flower girl. She will be the only one that can order flowers that MEA will pay for. Rob will send out an email explaining the procedure. If you know someone that needs flowers ordered for them tell Mandy.
Ed Vargus sick leave bank has been approved for him.
Monthly board meeting sign-up. Typically meetings are second Thursday of the month in the high school library. Heather will send a sign up form. Having two people at each meeting is important.
By laws were old and very out of date. TVEA was established in 1978. Bylaws have been retyped and updated. These bylaws will be made available by the beginning of October for viewing for a length of time and then a voting tool will be sent out.
Regional MEA Convention in Kalispell attended by Shelly Moen, Rob Reynolds and David James.
We will try to schedule the next meeting after school during the second quarter.
Scholarship Report 6 scholarships Marni Zauner, Chad Price, received $1500 Klairee Shay,Carly Hammond, Karina Hofstee, Tayler Holder received $1350
We need more members on this committee. Currently Corina Henrie and Shelley Shay are the only real active members. Procedures need to be streamlined. Corina will send out a district wide email inviting people to this committee. Fall meeting will be scheduled.
Treasurer’s Report
As of 8/19 our balance is 12,397.14.
We have written a check this fall to Tobacco Valley Newspaper for $75.00.
Taking this amount out, we are now at $12,322.14
