Collective Bargaining Update
- Negotiating is almost finished
- Sick leave bank is being combined with classified
- Possible vested clause
- Bank will be dollar for dollar instead of day for day.
- John, Corina and Shelly M are working on language for this
- Master Teacher Award changed to longevity bonus
- Contract is on the O drive
- Negotiating team is needed for 2010-2011 school year
- John Hammond will head this he needs assistants
MEA Regional Training Feb. 5 in Helena
- MEA pays let’s send some people
- Rob will send a link with more info
School Board Representation
- Can an MEA member sit at the table and represent teachers? Rob will check with Jim.
- If not let’s attend on a rotating basis and make a report at MEA meetings.
Slush Fund Contribution
- MEA will pay for flowers etc. that are usually covered from the Slush Fund which teachers donate to. This will be come out of the $25 local dues that members pay each month.
- Details need to be worked out and discussed with Paula Kindel and other individuals who take care of this is middle and high schools
Scholarship Fund
- $7875.85 which covers the five $1500 scholarships which were given last year
- Should MEA make a contribution from local dues?
- We need a high school teacher to head this committee. Shelly Clark you were chosen. Seriously we need someone to do it. Angela can not be the secretary and head the Scholarship Committee. This person does not need to be an MEA member.
Grievance Committee
Sandy Ryberg, Loree Campbell, Cheryl Cheek
Tom Gigstead will come up and present a workshop if we are interested.
